Just a reminder that our Basketball Team Camp begins Monday June 14th. We will have camp from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday's camp time will be 4PM to 6PM.
Also, we will have open gym from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on all Tuesday's. We need to get as many players there as possible.
Don't wait until Nov. 15th to get a basketball in your hands.

| Congrats to Gus Strunk who broke the 21 year old school record of 3 pointers in a season, previously held by Larry Lambreacht (44 in 1988-89). Gus finished the regular season with 45 3-pointers made.

The Boys Basketball game versus Clearwater that was postponed last Friday has been rescheduled for Monday, February 15.
Freshman will start at 4:00, JV at 5:45, and Varsity at 7:00.

FYI:
The new boys basketball alumni program is kicking off by helping us hold a fundraiser.
We will be raffling off two tickets to the KU/Texas Tech basketball game that is at 12:45 p.m. on January 16th!
The cost for a raffle ticket is $3 for one ticket, $5 for two tickets, or $10 for five tickets. We are planning on selling raffle tickets beginning tomorrow.
We will sell tickets at the following games: vs. Andale (12/10), vs. Wichita Trinity (12/11) , and vs. Buhler (1/5). We will then have the drawing and contact the winner and announce it at our home game on January 12.
We are excited to have this opportunity and we encourage you to take advantage and purchase a raffle ticket! It is quite an experience to take in a game at Allen Fieldhouse!

There will be a preseason players meeting for all those interested in playing basketball this season. The meeting will be Tuesday, November 10 after school in the auditorium.
There is also a sign-up sheet in Coach Wolgast's room. Please stop by when you get a chance.

To those who missed the deadline for ordering warm-ups:
In November at our Parents Meeting, we will take a second order for the forrest green Nike warm-ups that were a part of the player pack. This will be for those players who missed out on the fundraiser or those basketball players who are new to the district.
This will be for the WARM-UPS only. The t-shirt orders are final but we can still do a second order for warm-ups if we have a minimum of 6 and then get the embroidery done through them.

A special thanks to all who contributed and/or participated in our fundraiser efforts this summer! It was a great success!
Please note: I talked with our Nike rep today and our forms are currently being processed. Our original thought was that orders would be ready by August 16. However, that date will be a little later. The actual date will be closer to August 28 (at the latest).
Your shirts/sweatshirts will be delivered to you BY THE PLAYER WHO SOLD TO YOU. I will distribute to each player their order and we will try to make sure they get to you in a prompt manner.

If you plan on attending team camp and have not yet registered or spoken to me about attending, please do so ASAP. We have ordered new Nike practice jerseys but were only able to purchase a limited number. They will be distributed on the basis of when I received your registration until we run out of them!

P.S. I have been meeting with a representative from Nike and am pleased to say we will be doing a fundraiser through Nike this year that will be in conjunction with our team camp. Proceeds will allow you to receive Nike travel suits, shoes, and a travel bag. You will want to be a part of this so please make plans to be at team camp!

SUMMER UPDATE:
Team Camp is rapidly approaching and I am putting in the order for our new Nike practice jerseys. If you have not registered please contact me immediately! Camp runs from July 13 - July 16. We are also planning our fundraiser for the end of camp and you will want to be involved!!!
We will continue having shooting/workouts on Mondays and Tuesdays both in the morning and the evenings. We will then have scrimmages on Wednesday or Thursday evening.
Don't forget this Wednesday - we will scrimmage Conway Springs and Wichita West. It is a varsity scrimmage but freshman will have the opportunity to play as well. We hope to have a couple more additional scrimmages against other schools in the near future.
*Please note - there will be no morning open gym on Monday June 22 due to the arrival of our newest family member, Ashlyn Grace. Morning workouts will resume on Tuesday June 23.
Hope everyone is having a great summer and I'll see you on the hardwood!

An End of the Season Gathering for the MHS Boys Basketball Players, Coaches, and Managers will be held on Thursday, March 12th at 6 PM at Jacob Snider's house, 1520 S Krista Lane in Derby. The entertainment of the evening will be watching the Big 12 basketball tournament.
Coach Beckwith and Coach Abasolo will use money leftover in the account to purchase meat for the hamburgers they plan to grill. The following food donations and paper products are requested from the MHS Hoopster Boosters to serve at the gathering:

This was Tyler's second consecutive season to be selected for the honor and the first Wildcat player to receive back to back honors since Zach Kimble in 2003 and 2004.

The MHS Boy's and Girl's Basketball Players, Managers, and Coaches and the Basketball Cheerleaders and their Sponsors are invited to the 2009 Homecoming Banquet on Thursday, January 8th.
Please plan to arrive at 5:45 pm to gather and socialize in the MHS Commons. Prayers and Speeches will be done at 5:55 pm; and serving of the meal will start at 6 pm. Coaches & Sponsors and their families and the 7 Seniors will be the first to go through the buffet line in the Family-Consumer Science Classroom.
The parents/guardians of the boy's & girl's basketball players and cheerleaders have really come through and provided the paper products and delicious food for the Italian Theme meal. Non-perishable food donations and paper products can be delivered to the office of the MHS Athletic Director's Secretary, Christy Gutzmer on Thursday, 1/8. All perishable food donations are to be delivered to the Family-Consumer Science Classroom after 4:30 pm on 1/8. Parents are invited to help decorate, serve, clean up, and enjoy any leftovers.

The 2009 Homecoming Banquet for the Boys and Girls Basketball players, coaches, and managers and the MHS Basketball Cheerleaders and their sponsors will be held on Thursday, January 8th (Time to be determined).
The planned menu for the Homecoming Banquet is as follows: Italian Dishes: i.e. Lasagna (9 x 13 pans-fully cooked with 11-12 servings/pan), Manicotti, Spaghetti Casserole, Primavera, Tortellini, Chicken Alfredo etc.; Tossed Salad with Assorted Veggies & Dressings; Garlic Bread; Gatorade; and Cookie Bars: i.e. Brownies, Rice Krispie bars, etc. The meal will be served from the Family-Consumer Science Classroom and eaten in the Commons Area. Parents are invited to help with decorations and serve the food!
The following food donations are requested:

MHS Holiday Basketball Clinic Info
If you want to get in some last minute Christmas shopping or just need some time out away from the kids - bring them to the 2008 MHS Holiday Basketball Clinic on Monday, December 22! They will get to learn some fundamentals of basketball and interact with our players along with playing some exciting games.
We are also wanting to make a donation to a local food bank so we are asking that each person bring at least 1 canned or non-perishable food item.
The clinic will be held in the main and auxillary gyms at Mulvane High School from 5:30 - 8:00. It is for boys and girls in the First through Sixth grades. The cost is $15 and will benefit the basketball program at MHS. Registration forms are available at the primary, intermediate, and middle schools, as well as the MRC. We would appreciate if you could register by this Friday to help in our planning.

I want to encourage everyone to download the order form for our 2007-2008 Season Highlights DVD and purchase one! They are a great way to celebrate our winning season and they also make great gifts for grandmas and grandpas or other out of town family members who may not have been able to see a lot of the games!
I also want to thank Kasey for putting this together. He does a tremendous job and spends a lot of his own time and money for our website. Purchasing these DVD's will also help Kasey recoup some of his investment into this project and help continue it next season.

We will be travelling to Clearwater to face the Indians on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
First round winners of our regional will advance to the host site at Andale for the remaining sub-state games later in the week.

Thank you to all those who travelled in the cold weather to support us at the Chaparral Tournament. It was greatly appreciated by myself and the players.
Congrats to Dylan Donaldson and Tyler Springer for making the All Tournament Team.
Also, Dylan Donaldson took 1st place in the 3-point Contest, and Brenton Higgins took 4th place in the Free Throw Contest.
